Liam Walters - Technical Co-Ordinator
How long have you worked at Global Brands?
18 months
What is your role at Global Brands and what does it entail?
Technical Co-Ordinator: Our team (Quality & Technical) handles all the backend set-up for our products – from liquids for tastings, to technical information for artwork on pack, we handle all the nitty gritty specifics. We ensure products along with their labelling and documents are compliant to ever-changing regulations and guarantee a high-quality product.
How did you get into it?
I came from a more science-based background working as a Shift Chemist at SC Johnson Professional. After stagnating in progression, I looked for a different role in a more quality-driven area with vision for growth, luckily stumbling onto this job. It was the best decision I could’ve made, and I am very grateful and comfortable working in the business and team that I do.
What’s the best project you’ve worked on and why?
Gather – it is the most ambitious and eccentric brand that we have attempted. The liquids were intricate and bold, with the fantastic artwork designs by Clay Creative which deservedly went on to win an award.
What do you like the most about working at Global Brands?
Working in such a comforting, vibrant and innovative company. Not limited to, but the teams in my immediate area are brilliant. We are tight-knit, and the relationships extend beyond just work. Every day is full of laughing and joking, even though all of us are neck deep in work. (oh, and obviously the summer BBQ and Christmas parties!)
What’s your favourite GB product and why?
Franklin & Sons Dandelion & Burdock. It’s drink that I’ve loved since being a child.
And just to be nosy, what’s your favourite packet of crisps?
Wotsits Giants Flamin’ Hot
What one piece of advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in the drinks industry?
Do it; it’s a versatile, fun and fluid area of business with beneficial relationship building and transferable skills no matter your past experience.
