Isabella Newman - Key Account Manager for the Southwest

How long have you worked at Global Brands?

Coming up on 4 years now

What is your role at Global Brands and what does it entail?

I am the Key Account Manager for the Southwest- looking after high volume and larger scale regional groups from Gloucester, East to Swindon and all the way down to Land’s End.

How did you get into it?

I started at Global Brands as a National Account manager in 2021, looking after the HORECA side of the business. Hilton, Leonardo Hotels, TRG, Las Iguanas, Accor, Searcy’s, Black & White Hospitality, Hillier, Comptoir Libanais to name a few, as well as the Travel Retail side of the business, including working with Compass, GWR, Avanti and Inflight Initiatives. I went on Maternity leave for 10 months and moved to Devon to be closer to family. I returned to the business in a Customer Marketing role, leaning on my passion for past activations in the HORECA venues. I learnt so much about the other side of the business here and I even took on interim Brand Management for Shanky’s Whip for 6 months. It was all such a great learning process, and it’s really aided me in my current Key Account Manager Role.

What’s the best project you’ve worked on and why?

During my Customer Marketing role, I really enjoyed planning and executing the Franklin & Sons ‘Moment to Mix’ summer activation, from initial planning to sourcing and designing the POS and implementing it in venues. Getting to understand the whole process and plan timelines was interesting. In my current role I am really enjoying festival season, the best part of this is seeing our brands physically in the consumer hand; everyone having a great time and knowing it’s there because of the hard work I have put in.

What do you like the most about working at Global Brands?

I like the trust and freedom I have, knowing that my drive and dedication is what will lead my success. I love the passion my colleagues have, and I lean on them greatly.

What’s your favourite GB product and why?

I am a huge fan of be. Cocktails Pina Colada- it’s simply delicious! Hooch Cherry is a new contender for top spot though.

And just to be nosy, what’s your favourite packet of crisps?

Classic Walkers Prawn Cocktail- THE OG!

What one piece of advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in the drinks industry?

Don’t be afraid to just go for it, take every learning opportunity, and never doubt your transferable skills, regardless of what background you’ve come from. Remember in the stressful times you’re creating good times and great memories for people.
