Emily Seddon - Brand Manager
How long have you worked at Global Brands?
I have worked at Global Brands for two years and what a crazy but fabulous ride it’s been so far.
What is your role at Global Brands and what does it entail?
I am the Canned Cocktails Brand Manager. I am basically the brand guardian of all things cocktails across the MANY cocktail brands we have at Global Brands. This spans from strategic planning, budget management, activation planning and a lot of cross-departmental communication, be it sitting down with the content managers to ideate content plans including partnerships, tasting our pipeline of flavourful cocktails with the NPD team, regularly meeting with insight, category and customer marketing to strategize how we can push the brands further to support the sales team and bombarding the production and technical team with an abundance of questions.
How did you get into it?
I graduated in 2020 (dare I mention Covid) and jumped two feet into the brand world by joining the Carex brand team. What a better way to start my career, working on the UK’s No.1 Hand Hygiene brand during a global pandemic. This is where my passion for brand started, and I wholeheartedly couldn’t imagine being in another field. I came across Global Brands and absolutely loved the portfolio of brands and if I’m being completely honest, loved the idea of working in the drinks industry even more! I originally joined Global Brands as an Assistant Brand Manager on the Franklin & Sons team with a focus on the softs drinks portfolio and worked on the initial soft drinks strategy and it’s great to see how that has grown in focus for the business. The support for adaptation and progression in role is something which I have experienced with Global in my time and has made my transitions seamless.
What’s the best project you’ve worked on and why?
That’s a hard question, there’s so many! We’ve had the Shake Baby Shake Glamorous Get-Away 360 campaign, be. cocktails launch, All Shook Up rebrand but the launch of our newest cocktail brand GATHER Gourmet Cocktails has been the best project to work on as this brand is truly unique in its look, its flavours, its tone of voice and has so much potential, not to mention those 12-14.9% liquids are small but mighty.
What do you like the most about working at Global Brands?
The people. Anyone that works at Global Brands is cut from the same cloth. I mean we work in alcohol there’s always going to be that element of fun but everyone here has one focus in mind, let’s do everything we can to create the best brands.
What’s your favourite GB product and why?
As I mentioned before, GATHER is small but mighty and that Spicy Mango Margarita is incredible!
And just to be nosy, what’s your favourite packet of crisps?
Being a savoury over sweet kind of girl, this question I can imagine is like asking a parent which is their favourite child. But if I had to pick one, it would be Thai Sweet Chilli Chicken McCoy’s!
What one piece of advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in the drinks industry?
Go for it! But be prepared, you will be stood analysing every product on a back bar and in the fridges in any bar you go into, and the supermarket shop just got longer as you take in all the in-store activations.
