Brett HARDY - Production Director

How long have you worked at Global Brands?

24 years!

What is your role at Global Brands and what does it entail?

Production Director, overseeing the Planning & Supply and Procurement functions who ensure we have a balanced level of stock on hand at as commercially competitive pricing as possible.

How did you get into it?

GB was local to me, and I joined straight after university doing a production co-ordinator role whilst I found a “proper job”.  As the company was in significant growth, I quickly had an opportunity to become a Production Planner and over time progressed to Head of Planning & Supply and ultimately Production Director. When I joined, I was the second member of the production team, we will be 15 strong once our latest, new position, is filled.  Having remained here for 24 years speaks volumes about Global Brands!

What’s the best project you’ve worked on and why?

Arguably too many to mention, however the launch of F&S would be the favourite.  A very strategical 12 month launch which transitioned us properly into the non-alcoholic sector.  Production being heavily involved throughout, from concept to launch, including the creation of 4 bespoke bottles.  Certainly, the biggest brand launch since the flagship VK.

What do you like the most about working at Global Brands?

I think it’s a common answer, especially when people go their separate ways, but definitely the people and family feel across the business.

What’s your favourite GB product and why?

F&S Ginger Beer – I am not biased towards any of our drinks but can quite honestly say our Ginger Beer is the best on the market!

And just to be nosy, what’s your favourite packet of crisps?

Controversial, but Prawn Cocktail

What one piece of advice would you give to someone thinking about a career in the drinks industry?

Build strong relationships – it’s a relatively small world in the drinks industry and once in people often remain. Good relationships over the years certainly help in all areas of the industry.
