Global Brands Management Team in training for Three Peaks Challenge

On 5th July the Global Brands management team will swap their suits for walking boots as they set out on a gruelling 24 hour challenge to scale the UK’s biggest mountains, as part of the National Three Peaks Challenge.

Chairman and Global Brands founder, Steven Garcia Perez, will be joined on the walk by the board of Directors; Mark James, Simon Green, Shaun Bacon, Julian Atkins and Seb Perez. Starting out in the early hours at Ben Nevis in Scotland, the 24 mile walk will see the team scaling over 3407 meters and driving 450 miles to Scafell Pike in the Lake District followed by Snowdon in Wales, with a target time of under 24 hours to complete the challenge.

In the run up to the event, the Global Brands Three Peaks Team will be developing their own unique training plans, which range from a daily walk up the five flights of stairs to the Global Brands office, to regular walks in the Peak District, just a short drive from Global Brands Chesterfield Head Office.

The Global Brands Three Peaks tea will be raising money for Action Medical Research, which was chosen due to its commitment to ground breaking medical research. It was initially founded in 1952 to find a cure for polio. Over 60 years later, not only did the charity help to eradicate the disease in the UK, it has spent over £100m on life change research including rubella and meningitis vaccinations for children, and helping children with cerebral palsy to learn how to walk. “Taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge is a great opportunity for the management team to give something back by raising money for Action Medical Research. Whilst we’re all used to tackling business challenges in the board room, walking up three mountains in 24 hours is a completely different challenge all together. We’re training hard and keeping our fingers crossed for quiet roads and good weather.”

The team will be completing the walk in Hooper’s branded t-shirts to promote the brand’s latest Social Media competition: #MyMuddyBoots, which has been devised to encourage consumers to go and explore the British countryside. Over the summer the range of traditionally British brews will be challenging  consumers to dust off their walking boots, take a picture of them during their walk and post them on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram for a chance to win spot prizes of their favourite Hooper’s flavour.
